Executive Summary

UM St. Joseph Medical Center is a 221 licensed bed, Catholic acute care hospital that observes the Ethical and Religious Directives ​for Catholic Health Care Services. Located in the suburban community of Towson in Baltimore County, UM St. Joseph has a rich ​history of providing loving service and compassionate care since its founding in 1864 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. ​Originally called St. Joseph German Hospital, its Catholic heritage ever-present, the medical center today boasts a wide range of ​superb clinical programs and centers of excellence, including the Cancer Institute, the Sandra R. Berman Heart Institute, the Jack & ​Elizabeth Dunn Family Orthopaedic Institute, Women and Children's services and The Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Emergency ​Department.


Originally located in Baltimore City, the organization moved to its current location in 1965. UM St. Joseph is a member of the ​University of Maryland Medical System, a multi-hospital system with academic, community and specialty service missions reaching ​every part of the state and beyond.


A subsidiary of UM St. Joseph Medical Center, the Foundation was founded by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Philadelphia and UM ​St. Joseph Medical Center Board of Directors. Through the efforts of its board members and staff, the Foundation seeks the ​philanthropic support of the community served by UM St. Joseph Medical Center. To ensure and support continued services of the ​medical center, fundraising is accomplished through planned gifts, major gifts, direct mail, special events, grants, and major ​campaigns.


Major Gifts Officer

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift prospects for all ​fundraising priorities of the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center. Using data driven analysis and relationship ​development tools, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for securing major, leadership and principal gifts, actively managing a ​portfolio of 100-125 prospects and deepening donor relationships on behalf of the hospital. The Major Gifts Officer demonstrates a ​passion and enthusiasm for the mission of UM St. Joseph while actively collaborating with members of the Foundation team, the ​medical center staff, and volunteers to advance mission of the hospital.
